Just want to thank all who helped me at Barnsley hospital when I broke my elbow after a cycling accident.
The A&E acted promptly and decisively to diagnose the requirement for immediate surgery. They got me in a stable condition and found a bed that night with a planned operation at 0900 the following morning.
I was fully consulted on the procedure, the need to pin and wire the break but also possible side effects and complications that might occur.
The duty doctor from A&E saw me a number of times and the consultant explained the whole process.., from operation to recovery and rehab.
After a day to recover I was allowed to go home but with full instructions of what I could/could not do and medication. The Physio saw me before I left and I already had follow up Consultant and Physio appointments. Seven weeks in and several appointments later the recovery is going well with nearly full mobility and strength to develop.
The care has been fantastic, thanks to A&E, consultant, duty doctor, Orthopaedic ward nurses and the Physio dept.
"Great Care and support after breaking my Elbow"
