I had a 10.20 fasting blood test and arrived at 9.40. In the queue were 2 patients and one was insisting the other got seen. The receptionist said they were very busy and booked up however they persisted and then said they had an appointment at 2 or they could wait, but it would be a long wait and the member of staff had no idea when the patients would be seen. They waited and got seen before me at 10.55.
If walk ins can get in before booked appointments who are running late, this seems grossly unfair. I ha not eaten or drank anything and got seen at 11 after the walk ins.
The system should be all booked appointments go first and walk ins wait till the end.
I am not blaming the receptionist who was working the best they could and said they were short staffed, it was very busy. But the system should be looked at as it seems those who shout loudest get priority.
