"Travesty from beginning to end"
About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital Luton & Dunstable Hospital Luton LU4 0DZ
Booked in for induction due to pre eclampsia at just over 38 weeks. Booked in fine, no problems there. Given a pessary which I hyperreacted to. Was refused gas and air and offered paracetamol instead. The midwife on duty attempted to examine me while I was contracting every minute and was not gentle at all. The pessary was pulled out in the early hours of this morning and no other attempt to start my labour was made. Was examined at 10am and was left to see if things happened 'naturally' which they were told several times that it hadn't. At just after 4pm I get told that there was no room in the delivery suite and we're basically over run and the doctor (which never came) was going to discharge me.
I also want to highlight, the lady in the bay opposite me, her waters had gone, was in established labour and was obviously in a lot of pain. She was refused gas and air.
To have been admitted for mine and my babies health then sent home because they had taken on too many people, do people not take this into account? Should people who have potentially serious issues take priority over someone who has a slightly larger baby, or who has gone a day or so over their due date?
I would like the hospitals response on this!
