"Outstanding diagnosis, intervention and care"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

We had to rush our 2 year old son to Darent valley A&E in the early hours of the morning with a horrendous rash. He was lethargic, had a raging temperature and was a very sick little boy. The paediatric a&e staff acted swiftly, professionally and gave our son the best care and attention possible. He was very quickly diagnosed and treated for septicemia and possible meningitis. After being transferred to a ward and closely monitored all day by countless doctors, consultants and nurses, he was then transferred to St Thomas's intensive care.where he was later diagnosed with meningococcal septicemia and meningitis. The staff at St Thomas's couldn't speak highly enough about the swift actions and amazing work carried out by the staff at Darent Valley.

After a few nights in St Thomas's, our son was transferred back to Darent valley and was on their paediatric willow ward where again, he was looked after and cared for exceptionally well by the doctors, nurses and all staff. I cannot praise their work highly enough and I thank each and every staff member who looked after us and our little boy. You do an amazing job every day and you saved our baby boy's life. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you xx

Thank you for these amazing words, we have notified both the staff in A&E and Willow Ward. We do hope that your son is feeling much better now and looking forward to Christmas.

With best wishes
