Admitted to Accident and Emergency in considerable pain on the morning of 19 December, my progress through to pain-free discharge mid afternoon was handled with exemplary care, starting with reception staff who admitted me carefully and quickly. The duty doctor presented as knowledgeable and caring; the nurses and auxiliary staff were attentive and efficient; and the consultant who attended, managed my care with consummate skill, great communication and sensitivity.

From time to time we encounter impressive individual skill and attention, but what was outstanding here was the total functionality of a great team working perfectly together.
