"My total hip replacement at the borders general"

About: Borders General Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics (Ward 9)

(as the patient),

I am writing this because I get upset that people only say something when they want to complain but I like to say things that deserve to be praised.

I had a total hip replacement and I can only say from my outpatients to my discharge from ward 9 I have nothing but praise for this hospital my care was second to none.

It is not easy to go through major surgery lightly without being afraid I have never had an operation for 50 years, so I don't have a lot to compare with which maybe a good thing as all I have for this hospital is praise from the cleaners to the consultants I was treated very well.

The nursing staff, the phisios, the doctors all work together to take care of patients and understand that you are away from home and family and they all know what their job is and appreciate that all the different departments do their job to the best of there ability

The food from your kitchens was very nice and I am a very fussy eater but all I can say to your kitchen is well done and thank you

May I take this opportunity to thank all the orthopedic departments at your hospital as they are totally wonderful and I am nearly 4 week's post op and I cannot believe I have no pain to speak off also the xray department and the poor trolley men who get us safely to xray and back in such a busy hospital

Thank you again to everyone and if anyone is going in to ortheopedics for an operation you have nothing to fear they will take excellent care of you thanks again

Thank you Susan for your response

I am recovering well after my operation pain free now so what could be better

Writing this story was the least I could do as my care at the borders outpatients and ward 9 was wonderful as you have no idea how nervous I was regarding this operation

thanks again and merry Xmas to you all and all the best for 2016
