"Concerned patient security"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

My mother who suffers from dementia was admitted into the A&E Observation Ward overnight on the 17th December and was due to be collected the following day so my sister and I were pretty shocked to see that she had managed to walk out of the observation ward in her coat and nightgown and was waiting confused outside of the A&E department when we arrived to collect her. No harm was done and the medical attention both of the paramedics and the hospital staff who attended her for treatment was first rate but I would have hoped that a bit more care was taken regarding her security during her stay.

Dear Paul Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

I am sorry for my delay in responding.

I am pleased to read that the care your mother received was first rate but I am very sorry to hear that you found her outside the hospital when you came to collect her.

Security of our patients is paramount and it would be very helpful if you could contact our PALs team with more information so we can investigate further and learn from this incident.

You can email them on palsfrimleypark@fhft.nhs.uk.

Our Emergency Department Matron, Fiona would like to give you a call to discuss further if you are willing.

Kind Regards Claire Marshall

Head of Patient Experience
