"Man Hating Midwifes - Good day ruined by them"

About: Barnsley Hospital

Our beautiful baby arrived 05:58 on the 17th of December. All was fine and until this point fairly straight forward. We was then moved up to the ward at 09:30am. Having Rushed from home at 4am to attend my girlfriends birth I was dehydrated so when in the ward I went to the breakfast room to get a cup of tea. This midwife came and asked me if I had my own transport as I should go home and come back 25 minutes later when the official visiting starts and they took a real dislike to the fact I was making myself and my partner a cup of tea. I pay my taxes like the rest and feel a cup of self made tea should not be an unreasonable expectation. We then had numerous visits to the bed with them all totally ignoring my questions and speaking to only my partner. Patronising and sexist if you ask me. We are in 2015 and the man should be treated with the same respect not just shund by the midwives. The cleaners even came and had a pop at me regarding leaving a milk bottle on the table they said these go by the sink so we know these are finished, totally uncalled for. The ordeal went on for 13 hours despite nothing being wrong with baby or mother , we never ending waits for doctors sign offs, paperwork , medication and the organisation was a complete joke. They kept forgeting things. The person that came and did the heal prick test even left a need head in the crib. The toilets are for Patients only and everytime I needed to go I had to go down a full floor in the lift and then buzz to get back in. Each time I buzzed to get back in I had to wait several minutes and sometimes even buzz more than once. When answered the person didnt say come in or anything nor did the door make a noise. Just another pure rude way to let you know as a man they don't want you there. I am appalled that in this day and age there are no provisions for the partner of the child and that they are tret with such disrespect. Obismal service. All the midwives flap constantly and look for any way to have a go at a man. If I was incharge of this service a complete organisational overhall is urgently needed and a people skills course for all staff. The doctors also need to get some sort of a rush in them because I have never seen a person walk so slow.
