"a and e visit"

About: South Tyneside District Hospital

Came in with extreme chest pains , waiting time was meant to be fourty minutes. Sat there for three and a half hours. Triage nurse put chest pains down to being gastro pains without even asking. Left me sitting in the waiting area for a further few hours with no pain relief knowing that the wait would be longer as gastro is apparently trapped wind. I now carry a note that says if anything happens to me do not take me to south Tyneside hospital. Will never be coming back here again and will be letting friends and family know of my experience

Thank you for posting comments on your recent experience of our services. I am truly disappointed to learn your recent experience was not a positive one.

Whilst A&E can be very busy at times, we should still be communicating clearly with the patients who are waiting.

I will forward your comments to the manager of the service to share with staff in order that they can reflect on your experience.

Kind regards

Steve Williamson

Chief Executive
