"Planned C-section"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I had a planned C-section at the Aurelia ward the 13 of October this year.

I was absolutely terrified before the operation. I’ve always been scared of hospitals and needles.

The C-section was nothing like what I had expected. Actually, some parts of it was actually enjoyable! I got to see my baby for the first time and couldn’t stop the tears of joy.

Everyone was so supportive even though I panicked walking in to the operating theatre (they’ve probably never seen anything like it). They managed to calm my down and start the procedure.

I was astonished I didn’t feel any pain at all during the operation, not even the spinal block. I had dreaded that needle in the back for months but barely felt it.

The only pain I had was 1 day after the surgery when the painkillers worn off, but the staff were quick to get me some more medication to manage the pain.

I’m now fully recovered and will always be grateful to the staff at the hospital for delivering my baby safe and sound.
