"long wait for scan"

my mum has just found out that she has terminal cancer and we had her first visit about 2 weeks ago to christies. We were told by the consultant that she would need a scan to see if the tumour has spread, We were told to com e back on new years eve for the results. Because we had not received an appointment yet i rung up the scanning department to be told that they cannot give my mother a date yet and it may be the end of January before she gets an appointment. This is disgraceful, i thought Christies was supposed to be the best up to date place to go and to find out that to have a scan will take this long is not right. I am sure that if my mother was a private patient it would be done immediately . Why should private patients get treated first. Totally not fair
