"breast lump diagnosis"

I was seen by a doctor for a breast lump. I receive an ultrasound, biopsies and calcification biopsy in one day. Doctor told me that although these all pointed to a malignant (normal) tumour the doctor still wanted to remove the lump by general anaesthetic to be sure. Nothing wrong with that you might think, however on the day of the operation, I asked if the results pointed to it being non cancerous could I have it monitored rather than have a lump of my breast removed. The doctor refused saying it was pointless to monitor. After 3 separate conversations I insisted that it was monitored instead of operate. I then went to a private clinic, Princess Grace, for an ultrasound. They said that the ultrasound is only as good as the person doing it and their diagnosis was that the lump was perfectly normal vascular lump and there was no need to operate or even to monitor. Infact they said that the intrusive biopsies had caused unnecessary trauma to the breast tissue. When I was recall to Barts to see the doctor 2 months later I told them about this and asked for it to be monitored. The doctor point blank refused to monitor saying they wanted to operate and if I refused to be operated on then they would not treat or monitor me. i had to walk out of the clinic and to complain to my GP and ask to be referred to somewhere else. Im sure if you do have a clear diagnosis, then this doctor is probably a competent surgeon, however if you're results are unclear then I would really recommend getting a second opinion. this doctor is too quick to operate and is inflexible and incapable of considering options other than the one to operate. You are entitled to see your notes, just ring them up and ask them to be sent to you. I took this to the Princess Grace, they were absolutely brilliant and it only cost me 250 quid. Best money I have ever spent!!
