"Nerve Conduction Survey (NCT)"

About: Fulwood Hall Hospital

I was met by reception on Sunday 13 Dec 2015 who was very nice and informed me to keep my hands warm before I met the specialist who was to perform the NCT. When I met the person who was conducting the test they gave me a cold reception. once they invited into their room N06 they gave me their name which being not one I recognised or could not understand. Being a little concerned about was was to happen I was waiting to hear what was to happen but to my disgust and discomfort the doctor asked me if I had been drinking! (the night before I had two gin and tonics). In an instant the doctor went to the door and jammed it open with a chair and also opened the window claiming that the smell was overpowering. Not only did this put me on edge It was the coldest morning of the year and just minutes earlier I was advised to keep warm for the test, I was starting to shiver.

The whole experience has left me somewhat bitter and fear that my state of mind for this type of test and the practitioners attitude during it will not show accurate results. Even if the tests are inconclusive would I see this person again... No

That said the the Consultant dealing with my case has been very proper (including their support Staff) in every way.

Dear Mr Arnold -

I am horrified to hear your story and would like to offer my sincere apologies.

The company which performs our Nerve Conduction Studies is a subcontractor of ours and I have just spoken to the Managing Director of that organisation.

He too is very upset to hear of this situation and will be speaking to the doctor who looked after you.

Under the circumstances, I am very pleased that you found the Fulwood Team to be caring, including the supporting staff and your consultant.

I hope you will allow us to look after you again despite what happened with this study.

All the best -

Amy Simpson

General Manager
