"Still waiting for bone anchored hearing aid"

About: Wrexham Maelor Hospital

(as the patient),

I was due to have surgery but it was cancelled four days beforehand.

I found out it was due to funding, as they can only do 10 a year and this year the quota has been met. 10 people including myself were cancelled. I don't understand why they book us in knowing they couldn't fund it.

When I asked work (zero hours contract) I was effectively told that if I had Christmas off, they couldn't guarantee my hours as everyone is expected to do their bit. I rearranged birthdays, my wedding anniversary week away, planned Christmas all around this surgery. I worked 50 hour weeks to make up for the time I was having off. All for nothing.

Now I feel like going to bed and never getting up. I've done nothing but cry. How can they mess with people's lives this way? The amount of people this has affected is ridiculous. My sister changed her birthday plans for me, my husband took the last of his annual leave, my other sister took time off. Not to mention the fact I'm off Xmas rota and won't get any work when I'm due back.

I'm due to start a new job in the new year. This will mean booking more time off, provided I can hear what's being said on the courses I need to go on, which wasn't a problem originally as I should have had hearing by then! I'm so upset, anxious and angry. I cry all the time when I think of it.
