"Maternity staff are great, but food could be better."

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Maternity unit

(as the patient),

My baby daughter and I have been in forth valley royal since she was born 5 days ago. The staff in the labour, neonatal and post-natal wards have been amazing – they have been so welcoming to our new family during what was sometimes a challenging time. They have reassured us at all times, kept us informed, answered all out questions and offered help and assistance when we most needed it. It has meant a lot to see smiling faces coming into the room, taking time to get to know us all – they all seem to go the extra mile to put is at ease. Id like to specially thank midwives Amy and Margaret, Drs Akin, Archibald and Laura, NICU nurses Stephanie and Wendy and all the lovely post-natal ward staff.

The catering and cleaning staff are also so friendly.

The only negative aspect I think the food really needs improvement! These are important days for new moms what about less processed options with lower salt sugar, fat and dairy content?

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl. I hope she is progressing well in Neonatal.

Thank you so much for your posting. It is great to hear that all staff have been able to make your experience a positive and supported one especially at such a worrying time with your wee girl in Neonatal.

I have copied your comments to share with everyone.

With regards the food, I agree diet is very important at this time and will therefore link with the catering team to discuss your comments and see what improvements can be made.

Once again many thanks for taking the time to send your feedback. I hope that you will soon be going home with your wee girl as a new family with all the exciting times that lie ahead!

Best wishes

Gail

Dear Honest 252

Congratulations to you and your family on the birth of your little girl, thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback. I was very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your food whilst staying in Forth Valley Royal Hospital, this is not what we like to hear, as we pride ourselves on the quality of food we serve. Our aim is to serve healthy nutritious meals to all our patients.

The food, which is prepared freshly on site, using wherever possible locally sourced fresh ingredients, forms part of a three week menu cycle which has been carefully developed by our Chefs and Dieticians.

I understand that this will be a very busy time for you, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to contact me so that I can better understand your concerns and look at how the experience could have been better for you, my email address is Sandra.West@serco.com

I hope that your little girl is progressing well and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards
