"good poor discharge proceedure"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

Looked after my 88 year old dad after head injury great but discharged him 11pm with no money, no house keys in his dressing gown via a standard taxi company during winter. No discharge papers, hospital kept his med, no phone call ahead. Lucky we had good neighbours who paid taxi and took him in.as my elderly mum was too scared to answer door. Shocking service.

Dear Sir / Madam,

I would really appreciate if you would get in touch with me directly at annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk - I have to admit I was shocked and very saddened to read your description of our care and would want to apologise wholeheartedly to you and your family for any distress this caused.

Whatever the demands on our service I wouldn't want any of our patients to be trreated in this way.

It is important for us to look into this as quickly as we can to discover what went wrong on this particular evening ? Grateful for any help you can offer to support us with that.

With best wishes,

Annie
