"Child's broken finger."

About: Liskeard Community Hospital

My son injured his finger at school yesterday and it was swollen and had reduced movement so I wanted it checked.

I phoned Bodmin MIU as I'm closer but they informed me they had no x-ray at the weekend and suggested Liskeard.

We got there mid morning and went almost straight through with no waiting (lucky there I guess!). A junior nurse checked my son and then referred him to a more senior member of staff who did further checks and then sent him for an x-ray.

We went straight through and the radiographer was very quick and put my son (7 years) at ease. He even showed my son his x-rays and pointed out the crack in the bone which my son loved!

We were then taken straight back to the examination area where we were explained the next step of fracture clinic and this is the bit I'm so impressed with -

I mentioned that Plymouth wasn't that convenient for me and that he already had an unrelated appointment at Treliske Hospital on Tuesday, and so they arranged for my son's appointment at the fracture clinic to coincide with the other, unrelated appointment!

What fabulous service.

You have saved my a longish journey and considerable time!

Thank you very much NHS and the staff at Liskeard hospital!
