"My Urgent Care Centre Review"

About: Loughborough Hospital

I came in to the Urgent Care Centre on the evening of Friday 11th December. I was very anxious due to an ongoing anxiety disorder and a worry about my throat that I had had for weeks. On arrival I filled out the medical form and was not asked too many questions by the receptionist which I was relieved about. I asked if I could see a doctor but was told it would be a nurse.

The sign at reception said there was up to a 4 hour wait at busy times and weekends. This did not bother me at the time as I was just happy to know I would be seen. Within 30 minutes the waiting room had cleared and I was called in.

I decided to be honest with the fact that I had anxiety and was extremely worried about my throat and had been for some weeks. The practitioner was not fazed and assured me that I had no reason to be ashamed for coming as I had a real disorder. They proceeded to go over my medical history and any medications I was taking then took my blood pressure and temperature.

After discussing my concerns they looked at my throat and told me I had a viral throat infection. They assured me it was nothing sinister and if they had thought it was I would be sent right away to the Royal for further tests.

This practitioner has put my mind at rest after weeks of worry and many visits to my GP, whom have not even bothered to look down my throat!

They did not dismiss my concerns or make me feel like a time waster for coming and took the time to go over everything that had been happening with me lately.

I am incredibly grateful to this practitioner as for the first time in days I have slept well and went home and ate well! They told me to come back any time with any concerns as that is what they are there for.

I can only say thank you and for me, going there, was absolutely the right thing for me to do at the time. I could not face any more days and nights of endless worry.
