After receiving an invitation to a 55 year olds Bowel Screening appointment from a central hub I was allocated Chesterfield Royal Hospital as the site which would conduct this investigation.
I received paperwork, medication and instructions through the post and was offered a cancellation, which I took.
I had my sigmoidoscopy in a nurse led unit which was well led and the level of professionalism and kindness was impressive. I was pleased that I had attended as a polyp was found and biopsies taken , a specialist nurse explained what would happen next and I left the hospital having a date to return for a full colonoscopy, information about the procedure I had just had and meds for the next appointment were all given to me. There was no messing about.
The staff were all so good to me.
On my return appointment, a doctor performed the colonoscopy and again all the staff were lovely and kind and my dignity was maintained at all times. I have to go back in a few months time for a repeat sigmoidoscopy and I am glad that I am going back to Chesterfield Royal as I have confidence in them.
Thankyou, all in the Endoscopy Suite-I'm rubbish with names, I'm afraid but you were all so good.
If you have an invite to attend a Bowel Screening programme for 55 year olds please take the opportunity to take part in it. If you are lucky you will come to this hospital for it.
