"Recent stay at St Barts in KGV ward 4D"

About: St Bartholomew's Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Firstly let me say the staff were great, friendly and more than helpful where they could be.

My moan comes with no television. At one point I was the only person on the ward with no other distraction. I took in my tablet thinking I would watch TV on that but there's no WiFi in the wards.

The TV in the Day room doesn't work as there's no aerial on the roof even though the friends of the hospital have offered to pay for it! They told me that there was a problem with an aerial and the height of the surrounding buildings. This can't be right as opposite the front entrance there are lower blocks of flats that have aerials and TV coverage.

BUT even then that's just piffle as there's no need for an aerial nowadays as most channels can be watched over the net and then patients could also watch TV on their own devices in their beds, if there was WiFi coverage.

I was going to discharge myself as the boredom became unbearable and spending friday, saturday and sunday alone with nothing to do and no-one to talk to was starting to send me a bit doolally. The doctors talked me out of leaving and I am grateful for that as my problem was sorted out after 8 days of sheer boredom for me.

This slow brain death isn't good for patients surely!
