I can do no better than paste the text of a letter to the CEO:
Having been referred to the Urology team at St Helier Hospital by my GP, I was first seen in September and referred for an MRI scan of my prostate, a bone scan, a prostate biopsy and a colonoscopy.
All of these procedures took place very quickly and although the bone scan and colonoscopy revealed nothing sinister, unfortunately on October 6 I was diagnosed with T3 prostate cancer.
Since then I have been seen at the Butterfly Unit at Epsom District Hospital by both the surgeons of The Royal Marsden surgical team and the Consultants from the radiotherapy team.
I was subsequently referred for robotic removal at The Royal Marsden and that procedure took place on 8 December.
May I say that the treatment I have had is first class.
I cannot imagine that private health care would have been any better, or indeed quicker.
From the greeters at the hospital entrances to the doctors, consultants and nurses, I have received support, advice, comfort, empathy and the most professional service anyone could possibly expect.
I have already written to the CEO of Epsom and St Helier in praise of the treatment I received there.
I now write to say that my treatment and care at The Royal Marsden was exceptional.
Every single person I had any dealings with, from the surgeon to the meticulous ward cleaner, was a credit to your organisation.
I tried to thank them all individually, but if it is at all possible in any staff communication please pass my thanks on to them all.
The NHS gets a lot of stick in the media but I am going to be singing its praises to everyone I can.
I can’t thank the people with whom I have come into contact enough.
"Could not be better if I had been private"
