My partner has had the unfortunate luck to be referred to this practice.
He was assigned a nurse, who ended up cancelling more often than not. Most of the time, it wasn’t until he arrived at the practice that he was told the nurse wasn’t in. Wasted journeys and time off work. Any help that was offered such as referrals to Mindfulness groups, counselling groups and the like weren’t followed up., no matter how hard we chased.
Anything that was meant to be followed up with a letter, such as appointment confirmations, and signposting to other services would not arrive. When referred out of the nurse’s care, my partner was left out in the cold. No signposting, no letters. Two months later my partner received an appointment letter for a psychiatrist, but this only arrived a day before the specified appointment!
Even after that appointment, letters that were meant to arrive confirming next appointments haven’t arrived. The phone is practically unmanned- my partner has left voicemails that remain unreturned, I’ve called 12 times today and received no answer.
Totally understand that mental health is wildly underfunded, but this place is just dangerous in its lack of support, communication and... well, everything. And honestly, it’s dangerous. Mental health patients who aren't necessarily able to keep track of all of this or have the drive to chase up everything are just left out in the cold? People who are at the worst point in their lives, suicidal even are just left to be ignored?
Awful, awful awful.
