I could not wish better service for giving birth then west midd hospital. My first baby was not born in the uk and comparing two different health systems I was a bit sceptic how it's gonna be.
I was booked for induction due to diabetes in pregnancy and obviously was reading people's experience. I was prepared for waiting, perhaps even sending me home and booking for the other day... To make it short... Was ready for not nice experience.
Anyway when we came there almost instantly I was seen by midwife and examined. Because my cervix was already open a bit they skip first part and send me for a walk. Every detail was explained to me. All staff on antenatal ward was very nice , friendly. When I was moved to labour ward I got a new midwife who was just amazing. This midwife was with me all the time, very supportive and just the type of person you want to be there. All my wishes were respected. Although my labour could've been faster I wanted epidural so we had to wait for blood results first. Nobody said anything. Anaesthetist was very nice and professional explaining all procedure in advance with all possible complications.
They were so quick that I was surprised. Every my concern was taken seriously and explained till I was happy. During the pushing the midwifes instructions where clear and if you listen there's no way something will go wrong. I do emphasis cooperation but the midwife was leading the game. Very very supportive with a dose of humor which you need. After my first baby I could not walk for 2 weeks and sit down for 3..after this one I was ready to do gymnastics immediately. Never thought I will be so well after.
Although I spent there less then a day the experience and memories from such important day in my life will remain forever.
Thank you guys!
