"My Stroke Experience"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

On the evening of November 30th, I had the misfortune to suffer a mild stroke. My wife made the 999 call, and the ambulance arrived within less than 10 minutes, I was immediately assessed by the paramedics, very efficiently and caringly.I was immediately taken to the A&E Dept., where I was once again assessed by a specialist stroke nurse.

The A&E dept., was absolutely heaving, but the staff were doing their utmost to see to everyone under very difficult conditions. I was eventually found a bed on F4 ward in room 36, where I was quickly seen by a doctor and made comfortable by the nurses who were very caring and helpful. .

After various scans and tests

I was diagnosed as indeed having had a mild stroke, and the appropriate medication and therapy was prescribed for me . I stayed for 3 days before being discharged back to my home, where I was then visited by the various members of the CSRT team who helped me on the road to recovery on a daily basis until I was deemed fit enough to be fully discharged.

I cannot praise highly enough everyone involved in my care and recovery, from the paramedics right through to all the nurses and doctors and the CSRT team who took fantastic care of me, and I must say even the food was more than adequate and quite palatable,
