We were staying in Leeds from out of the area and my partner was admitted via ambulance to St James' A&E dept with acute stomach pain. From the moment we got there staff treated him like he was invisible. They didn't check on him even though he was screaming in agony with acute stomach pains.I had to beg the nurses to help him! He wasn't given anything for the pain for over an hour until I asked the Dr and then only with a huff did they do it. He also wasn't given any fluids until I asked and I got the same reaction. They messed up his blood test and had to re take them but by this time he was so dehydrated they couldn't get any blood for over an hour of sticking needles in him and he was left with huge bruises on his ankles feet and arms. The staff never told us what was happening and then another ambulance tuned up and took him to LGI but expected him to walk across a cold car park floor in his bare feet to the ambulance (this was 3am) When I said he has nothing on his feet the ambulance man just shrugged and said 'it's only here' like it didn't matter!
I hope to god no body ever get sick here. This was my first time in Leeds and I hope it's my last. BTW once at LGI the staff and treatment was great!
"Awful treatment disrespectful and ignorant staff"
