"Wasnt taken seriously"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was sent to A&E by my GP due to a false widow spider bite. my GP had never seen one before and wasn't sure what to do with it. I travelled 22miles to Lincoln county hospital to be seen. my details were incorrect so had to get them corrected. sat for half hour was seen by nurse who quite abruptly said there ate no false widows in Lincoln. my reply was I don't live in Lincoln. was written down as a bite and told to wait for a doctor. 3hours later I was seen. the venom had spread from my finger half way down my arm was in a lot of pain.

Nurse thrust a box of antibiotics at me said I had to lance my wound at home and keep my arm elevated. wasn't given any dressings and was told he needed to see next patient. I was seen for 3 minutes.

I have been back to my GP today and he was appalled that I was told to do it myself and also wasn't correct as you are not suppose to lance these bites. my GP has done research since my visit and there are confirmed sighting of the spider and he has said it is what bit me.
