"Time wasted totally"

i was booked in to this hospital for an operation on my finger.

The information posted to me said I would be a day patient but also that

I would not be able to drive for 24 hours as I would have a general anasthetic.

I contacted the hospital 3 times to get my stay changed to overnight as I made it clear that I lived 100 miles away and the only way I could get home was to drive as I had no one to drive me. I also put this in the patient details form I filled in and posted to them 2 weeks before the operation. They changed my stay to overnight so cannot say they did not know I had to drive home after the operation.

I arrived on time for the operation and was getting changed for it when the nurse said i would not be able to drive afterwards because my hand would be bandaged. I pointed out the only way i could get home was to drive. The nurse got the consultant who said i would not be able to drive and cancelled the operation.

I had a 200 mile round trip and a day wasted as i had made it clear weeks before that the only way i could get home was by driving myself.

If they were going to cancel it this should have been done before i wasted my time and money doing a 200 mile round trip.

I am totally dissatisfied with my treatment by this hospital.
