I came into the JR on my own to deliver my baby, and from my arrival I was well-looked after and treated with respect. Once I arrived at MAU, I was immediately ushered through to delivery suite as it was obvious I was in the throes of labour, and assigned a lovely delivery room with windows at the far end of the suite. My midwife guided me through the paperwork, and helped me to make myself as comfortable as possible in the room by adjusting furniture, providing a glass of water, radio etc. Every choice or decision was explained and I was allowed to decide my own route through labour, supported by my midwife. My labour quickly progressed and within an hour of arrival, I was ready to push, and it was at this point I was carefully and skillfully guided to deliver my baby, with no fuss and most importantly, no tears. After birth, my baby and I were given some time for skin-to-skin contact and to bond before we were helped to clean up and transferred to a fantastic en-suite room up on the spires suite for the night before our discharge the next day. The care I received was faultless, and as I was on my own, I feel that extra care was taken to make sure I felt comfortable and safe. I am truly grateful for the help and support I was given, and would thoroughly recommend delivery suite to any women who may be considering birthing here.
"Excellent care"
