I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy and admitted into the EPU with great urgency. The sonographer was extremely thorough and picked up on the ectopic pregnancy that a private clinic had missed with two scans. A calm , considerate and friendly registrar explained the options clearly and organised everything very efficiently. Given that this all took place within an hour , I had major doubts and panicked with the diagnosis to remove my fallopian tube with ectopic.
This was when another wonderful doctor, took the time to carefully listen to my concerns and explained everything in crystal clear detail. They could see my fear and explained they would never put any one in surgery unless they were 100% sure unless it was an emergency. I was allowed to wait till the morning for my decision, being closely monitored through out the night.
In the morning another great team Consultant and the registrar on duty came and took the time to discuss everything and explain the procedure. By this time i had calmed down and understood the need for the operation and its future benefits to me. I felt safe and attended to not only by the doctors but all the super nurses, thank you for your cheerfulness. Even the porter who took me to the operating theatre was so bubbly and joyful i didn't have time to get stressed .
The operation was successful and the after care matched the pre care. I fully trusted all the professional that took care of me and would like to thank them all from the bottom of my heart .
