"First Class Service"

About: Blairgowrie Community Hospital / Community Care & Treatment (Minor Injuries) Ninewells Hospital / Cardiology Ninewells Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiology & Coronary Care Unit

(as the patient),

A few months ago I felt unwell over a weekend, on the Sunday I went to our local MIIU at Blairgowrie Community Hospital, mainly for advice or guidance. The nurse on duty gave me good examination and ECG and then referred to the duty doctor who in turn sent me to the Acute Medicine Unit at Ninewells Hospital. From the AMU I was referred to Cardiology at Ninewells.

I spent some time (around three weeks) with the Cardiology Unit having numerous tests, and although I was 'boarded' out a few times I still received excellent care from Dr Swejkowski and his team. Especially as it was unclear as to what the problem was.

Eventually I was sent by emergency ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, again receiving first class service from the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Once in ERI I was operated on and cared for by Mr Walker and his team in the Cardiology Unit, again being looked after and cared for very well.

Even on discharge from ERI I was looked after by the staff in the discharge unit who made sure I was fed and watered while waiting on my transport home.

Unfortunately during my operation there was some damage to my vocal chords, however once back in Dundee this was sorted through another operation by Mr Majumdar and his team at ENT in Ninewells. Again providing excellent service and care.

Most of the people who cared for me I do not even know and they probably don't know me, but I can say the service and care were first class. Thanks to all of you I am now recovering very well, it may 'just be your job' but you all did it very well so thanks to all of you.
