"My daughter and her asthma experiences"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a relative),

My beautiful eldest daughter has been recently been referred to the childrens outpatients department from the middle of the year as her doctor had done as much as he could with her asthma and it was becoming uncontrollable.

The majority of the staff who have been involved since Aug have been marvellous and have even had to deal with her in emergency department when we were blue lighted in one day after a very severe asthma attack. My daughter was referred to a specialist service by her very helpful paediatric specialist.

Countless times I have rang wanting advice and had to chase appts, to have no response then even whilst at the outpatients for appts with my youngest and her milk allergies I have been made aware that specialist staff were on duty that specific day. The very helpful receptionist on staff took my details and I was told I would be contacted shortly, to hear nothing back.

Weeks passed and my daughter had to attend hospital again at the ENT department to have a camera up the nostrils. I was told I should try and reach this specialist service again because they too were concerned in the fact that she was not allowed antihistamines for three days prior to this skin allergy testing and felt blood test was the way to go for the time being. They advised me to go to the department which I did but I had to leave a message along with contact details as no-one was there.

But I am sure u can guess that once again I hear not one word, then the icing on the cake, we then arrived today for our appt to find out it had been cancelled. Needless to say I am one very ticked off mother and that's putting it politely.

Dear Angrymummy

This really is an unacceptable state of affairs and I am very sorry that you and your daughter have not been better served by us.

From your message I am unsure as to where the problem lies, with our ENT or Paediatric services, but if you contact me I will of course get to the bottom of things and ensure that your daughter receives the care she needs.

My email is bill.kilvington@sash.nhs.uk - please do get in-touch.
