"The doctor"

Last weekend my 19 month old daughter had a temperature and was coughing. She also had a tight chest and was wheezing. When she breathed, her ribs were pulling in. The year before she spent a week in hospital with bronchiolitis so this time we didn't want to take any chances. We called NHS direct who recommended we see an out of hours doctor but for a while were debating whether or not to send us to A&E. We got booked in with the doctor (to our disappointment, as we have had appointments with the doctor before. The doctor either believes no child has ever been ill and all mothers are over the top with worry, or the doctor is just rude..... I think the latter)

We were told, after a very rushed examination by an agitated and condescending doctor, that our girls chest was 'absolutely clear' and that it was nothing but a 'mild cold'.

The doctor's bedside manner didn't fail to live up to their reputation as the doctor asked 'do you have other children?' 'yes' replied my wife 'are they as difficult as her?' the doctor quipped.

The doctor must never have dealt with an ill child with a temperature before, they ain't a bag of laughs Doc!.

My wife and daughter left with no medicine, no advice and just a lump in her throat as the doctor made her feel a fool.

That night my daughter deteriorated and we booked in with our local GP first thing in the morning. After a thorough examination she was diagnosed with a severe chest infection and was wheezing and crackling. The doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics, a new inhaler and sound advice that if she got worse to take her to A and E.

To anyone reading this, I want you to know that this is the first time I have ever complained about anything. If I ever leave a review its always if I have had a good experience.
