"Failing to provide adequate care"

About: West Mendip Community Hospital

The review questions are lovely but not relevant to the treatment and only tick another box which has no real relation to the care provided.

My sister was admitted without a proper handover, where a proper assessment was not taken and then suffered complete lack of any co-ordinated medical led treatment.

2 weeks later my sisters fluid is worse than I have ever seen it and still after endlessly pointing her condition out there is nothing happening to really help her.

The cleanliness is adequate but the actual treatment is shocking, almost neglect.

Why is there no doctor monitoring her worsening condition again!!

The lack of any co-ordinated rehabilitation will see my sister suffer in the short term as well as massively increase the risks to her health and the high probability of her returning to an emergency hospital in the near future. How is this good for the overstretched NHS, my sister or our family? I would be happier if they were to make the NHS's limitations known so that alternative care could be sought before its to late.

Good morning Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with the Patient Advice and liaison Service, PALS. I was very sorry to read about your sisters experience of the hospital and I would very much like to take this matter forward and organise for a detailed response to be provided by West Mendip Hospital. With this in mind, could I ask that you either contact the PALS service on 01278 432022, email us at pals@sompar.nhs.uk or write to us at 2nd Floor, Mallard Court, Express Park, Bristol Road, Bridgwater, Somerset. TA6 4RN.
