"Better than Private Care at Birthing Centre"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

I was referred to the birthing centre after a midwife consult at 21 weeks. I was experiencing some unusual symptoms and was feeling rather stressed on arrival. Every member of staff from the reception to room care, midwife to doctor, eased my mind, made me feel as comfortable as possible and explained my care each step of the way.

I was immediately seen to a private room with ensuite and given water and a buzzer should I need it. I instantly felt safe, welcomed and secure knowing that someone was there should I need them. The room wad immaculately clean. I didnt wait long before I was joined by a midwife. I was listened to and taken seriously, and felt as though i was in the best place possible. The doctor then came and spoke to me and had a very clear and precise understanding of my exact situation. they explained exaxtly what they thought they should do and asked if this was OK with me. It didnt take long to carry out the tests and procedures and I was safe to go home straight after. The reassurance I was given has helped me to relax again, which helps, as I have another 19 weeks to go till my due date. I was told that if I had any questions or concerns I could come back any time. This kind of information/invitation is so important to pregnant women.

I am now very confident that Nsech is the only place I want to have my second child. I had my first child at the RVI in 2011, and for all I cannot fault them, there is a level of care and facility at Nsech that far outreaches anything I have ever encountered before. I can imagine the aftercare and private rooms to far surpass that of 6 bed wards. A must for first time mums I would say. Im looking forward to delivering my second baby here in April, and have alreafy recommended the hospital and birthing centre to friends and family.

Thank you to all the staff who helped me!
