"Where should we go now for help?"

(as the patient),

My son suffers from bipolar type 2. We asked for help on 18th June - none received. He attempted suicide on the 19th , taken to A&E, discharged 20th June.

We asked for extra help i.e. respite care, and to see a consultant as he would be by himself next week. Seen by member of psychiatric team and referred to local mental health unit, but just given different medication.

His carer has lots of other problems and is at wit’s end coping and is not there next week He is in quite a bad way, self-harming etc. Where do people go to get help?

It seems as if no one wants to know. If it was a medical matter people look after you better, even the staff in A&E did not seem at all concerned, a broken finger would have got more attention.

He tries very hard to manage his condition and it is heartbreaking not being able to see him get the help he deserves.
