"Disgusted"

About: King's Mill Hospital

I am absolutely disgusted at how the hospital was, I was brought in with suspected appendicitis and I had about 5 different nurses and doctors ask the exact same questions, then I had two blood tests the same hour and the first one went wrong, I was extremely dizzy and felt very faint so by this time you'd probably be thinking I wouldn't want another one done, but I did and then I fainted and had a bit of a struggle, then sick, by this time I felt very ill and then yet another nurse tried to take my blood, I refused and luckily wasn't forced to. Then I was asked by 3 other members of staff whether I was pregnant, of course I wasn't ( I'm 12 years old and a virgin), the next day I was brought in to have an ultrasound scan as they said they found blood in my urine, and wanted to see whether it was something to do with my ovaries or kidneys, they said everything was fine, then I waited another few hours seeing more doctors and then was told I would see another doctor, about half an hour later 6 people came in and one doctor examined me, I found this very embarrassing and was extremely annoyed with the fac they didn't even ask me whether I felt comfortable with people watching me being examined. Next I waited about another hour or two and was told I will be having a pregnancy test! I was completely shocked, as I had already told 3 staff members I was a virgin, they obviously didn't believe me to which I was completely and utterly shocked. Next they told me it wasn't appendicitis I had or anything to do with my ovaries it was simply just a urinary tract infection or so one member of staff thought, also as I was waiting in the children's A&E department I came across a silverfish on the floor which means that it is not a clean place. And to add on to everything else I had experienced over the past 2 days I was left sitting on a bed for hours waiting for some antibiotics, and had a sister at home who we needed to get home to look after and I felt unwell in the stuffy, hot room I was put into, my mother asked many times when they would be ready and time and time again they said it was nearly done, next when we finally got home the antibiotics I was given wasn't even the correct dose. I am extremely dissatisfied at the amount of effort or respect given to me and my family.

Dear reviewer,

We are very sorry to hear about your experience in the children’s area of the Emergency Department. Your experience does not reflect the high level of care we expect our patients to receive here, and we would like to look into the matter to investigate your concerns further.

If you are happy for us to do so, please contact PET@sfh-tr.nhs.uk or telephone 01623 672222.

Kind regards,

Communications Team Sherwood Forest Hospitals.
