"Ignorant staff and poor catering facilities"

About: Alexandra Hospital

If the NHS had a shorter waiting list for treatments where the patient is left in some pain for a while waiting, and the option for private rooms then why would you want to selfpay at this place. The staff act like they don't want to be there, the rooms need a re-fit and are poor, the food (if you get any) is poor and unappetising. I was in for a day care operation, which had complications and I had to stay overnight - in a selfpay package this means you need to double and triple check with ignorant, ill-informed staff whether you are covered or not. feeling vulnerable and likely to incur another large bill!

I'd missed the evening meal slot as my operation was delayed, no food until I begged for some, where I received what looked like day-old sandwiches from the back of the fridge.

NHS staff deserve a medal for their dedication to their job and how comfortable and caring they are with you, facilities are not great and wards need to be brought up to the 21C but my goodness I'd rather go do that that pay what I paid here to jump the queue and go private. I'd rather travel further afield than stay here or recommend this place to anyone.
