"Care & communication of the frail & elderly"

About: Florence Nightingale Community Hospital

My 91 year old frail registered blind mother in law was admitted twice within a 2 week time frame in Ocotber. She was discharged and then readmitted 2 days later, after one week she acquired a sacral pressure sore !!!!

Whilst the general care was good, it could have been better, difficult to obtain information, charts not filled in correctly, family doing more and assessing more when staff should have been carrying out these tasks etc.

My mother in law was finally diagnosed as having had mini TIA's

Communication poor from staff to family. Discharged too early and distressing for everyone involved.

It was a medical ward on the 3rd floor.

My advice to RDH is must do much better especially for patients who can't speak up for themselves and please please please communicate with the family.
