"Car Parking at Acre Mills outpatient facility"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

I visited ophthalmic outpatient department this morning with my elderly mother and make the following comments: - 1. There is no signage in the car park to notify those arriving that the payment machines are inside the main entrance. I spent sometime in the very windy car park looking for a machine to pay only to find out when I asked another patient returning to her car. When I returned to my car at the end of our appointment someone else was in the same position and asked me where in the car park the pay machines were. An additional notice should be appended to those stating the parking rates in the car park.

2. Our clinic ran very late (over 1 hour late) and I had (on arrival) pre-emptied this possibility by asking the staff member on reception downstairs what would happen in this eventuality and ascertained that I was to take my 2 hour payment ticket to that desk on departure and it would be validated for the additional time at no further costs. However others in the delayed clinic clearly didn't know this and were panicking and looking for extra change to put in the machine - until I told them otherwise. A notice should be clearly displayed both on the payment machine and in each clinic explaining what to do in these circumstances.

Although this Acre Mill facility is relatively new it has been open for long enough that these issues ( which on discussion with other attendees were not new) should already have been addressed and it is very disappointing that they haven't, leaving patients and relatives to suffer the consequences.
