In appreciation of Leighton Hospital and staff
Dear Dr
I understand that the professionals in hospitals work with the same bureaucratic overtones that I experienced in education and it is with that in mind that I write to you.
I must say at the outset that my on-going experience at Leighton Hospital has been exemplary in all departments. I had a Hindfoot Fusion in December last year. I have known the doctor since 2009 when they performed a successful ankle joint replacement.
Before the operation I was a frequent visitor to the appliances department where I received such skilful care.
The in-patient experience started with the pre-operative assessment, thorough and friendly. Then to ward 9 on the day of the operation. That ward must be a wonderful example of all that is excellent practice in a hospital. The care and concern I experienced was second to none and applied to everybody with whom I came in contact. Then came visits to outpatients. I came by an efficient and helpful ambulance service that was prompt, patient and had delightful senses of humour [most of them].
Visits to the plaster room [of which there were many] were always a good experience often with laughter, always with care and consideration and under the supervision of the nurse.
But I must express unstinting thanks and praise for the doctor who was [and is] a strength through all this and for whom I have the greatest respect for so many reasons. They have been a helpful and caring guide and is much appreciated. I am now able to walk more or less normally for the first time in five years and am hoping that the fusion is successful
May the quality of skill and care long continue.
Sincerely
"In appreciation of Leighton Hospital"
