"Understanding but unclean"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

We went to A&E as our child had the symptoms of meningitis. We were seen quickly by understanding nurses and doctors, they listened, treated us and our son with understanding and all in all made it a very straightforward experience. I would recommend the service we were given and thank all the A&E team for their help.

My only criticism is that the childrens section of A&E is very unclean, especially the floors. I understand that this service has been outsourced to an external company and I do not think that they're doing a thorough enough job. This is especially worrying considering the incidence rate of e-coli in hospitals. This criticism is leveled at senior staff in the NHS, not the stellar staff on the ground.

Thanks for sending your comments about your recent experience of our children’s Emergency Department, including your message of ‘thanks’ for staff, which I have shared with the team. Your comments about the cleanliness of the floors are noted and we will continue to closely monitor the standards. Kind regards, Lucy Thow Matron, Emergency Department
