I visited the A&E department after bleeding during early pregnancy. They were fantastic. I was seen straightaway. Examined and because the bleeding had stopped I was sent home with the promise that I would receive a phone call the following morning with an early scan appointment. As promised they rang when they said and I was given an appointment for that afternoon. Unfortunately our baby had stopped growing. The sonographer, midwife and doctor were fantastic. Very compassionate and gave us all of our options. We went home with the plan to visit 2 days later for medical management. The following day the miscarriage began naturally. Unfortunately I lost a lot of blood and began to feel faint and dizzy. I rang up Ward 3 and I was told me to go straight in. When I got there I was given a side room with a toilet. Due to the blood loss on my journey and then on the way to the room a lovely member of staff brought me a hospital gown to wear. They also brought a selection of knickers and maternity pads which, in my situation, were a godsend. Once settled in my room and after another toilet trip I began to feel very dizzy and then next thing I know I'm on the floor with about 8 nurses and a doctor around me. The nurses were absolutely brilliant. Very very caring and they couldn't do enough for me. The gynaecologist there was amazing. They were lovely and really knew what they were doing. They got me on fluids and organised a blood transfusion to be ready just in case. Later that night the bleeding was still very heavy and after an examination, a different doctor decided that the best option would be surgery. Within half an hour I was prepped and down there. The surgeon was lovely, as was everyone I met down there. Following surgery I needed the blood transfusion and the night nurses were just as lovely as the day ones. It seems that they can't do enough for patients in their care. Constant buzzers going off but they were answered very quickly. In my opinion, based on my experience, the staff here, especially Ward 3, are worth their weight in gold. Thank you all. You made a very traumatic experience bearable.
