"Would like to get out more"

About: Carewatch (Inverclyde) (Ayrshire) (Dunbartonshire) (Argyll & Bute) North Ayrshire Council - Three Towns, North Coast and Arran

(as a service user),

I have a few different people visiting me at home each week but what matters most is being able to get out. It’s so nice to get out the house but I need help as I’m blind. I need to get out, if left alone by myself I get depressed.

I have carers coming 3 times a day, they make cups of tea, make sure I get my meals and my pills. They are from the council in the morning and Carewatch in the evenings. This is going to change because Carewatch are finishing up this month and then I think all the carers will be from the council, they will probably need to come from the mainland. I think this will be fine, all the carers are very good.

I have a support worker one day a week who takes me out. She helps me sort out my money, takes me to buy food and we go for lunch. At this time of year she writes cards for me.

I used to have a befriender once a week who would also take me out but this has stopped. The girl doesn’t have time anymore. It was set up by the Salvation Army but they are no longer on the island.

I would like to get out more, to do more walking and get some exercise. It would be good to have something to replace my befriender.

Dear brdck1

Many thanks for getting in touch with us regarding your experiences of the care provision that you receive on the isle of Arran and I am pleased to hear that the majority of the service provision is meeting your needs.

However, there are a number of issues that you mention that I would be happy to discuss with you in greater detail to ensure that the services that you receive are indeed meeting all of your needs and that the assessment of your needs is actually up to date?

Please contact me on 01294310222 and I will arrange for one of my island based colleagues to arrange a suitable time to visit you.

Best Wishes

Anthony Fisher

Dear brdck1

Thank you for taking your time to email. I am sorry that we are not going to be on the island, but most staff will not be finishing. We have been working with the Council so that your support will continue with the same staff just a different organisation. Please do get in touch if we can help in any way.

Kind regards Anna
