The surgical team in the Cardiac Dept was led by my consultant and I got the impression my consultant was highly respected and liked by their team. This seemed to permeate through the entire dept to include, nurses and cleaners and all staff. The fact that one had a bed gave one a human link with the staff and at the one felt one was leaving a family at the end.
So this was surgery at its peak with hospital standards and cleanliness that one might have seen 30 or 40 years ago.
The entrance to the Hammersmith looks sensible. A push button to call taxis. Cheerful people in shops, and helpful staff giving directions.
