Between 6 weeks of pregnancy my baby’s bump had been measured by 3 different Community Midwifes due to sickness. As a result my baby growth had been charted, as open growing by two centimetres within this period. As a result I was referred for a Growth Scan. As you can imagine, the thoughts having a problem with my baby massively effected my emotions and I was eager to have clarity that my baby was okay.
Within a 24 hour period I had received an appointment at St James Hospital.
On arrival to the department, my partner and I were placed in the waiting room, awaiting a Sonographer to become available. This wait was miniature, and we were quickly taken in a private room for the scan.
My partner and I was met by a Male Sonographer called Richard who was an expert in his field, explaining all that he was checking, involving us both in the experience whilst making us feel at ease. His personality and knowledge made the stressful and challenging experience seem almost minor and our worries were completely dealt with.
Richard deserves all the praise which we’re sure he receives. He’s a credit to his department, the LTHT and the NHS.
