"Mums stay at the QE Gateshead"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

My Mother was admitted to the QE Gateshead on the 19th Nov on the Short stay ward which was very nice , she was then transferred to another ward 25 with another 3 people this was quite pleasant , then they transferred her to ward 6 ....... Dreadful move she is a 90 years old lady who needs help bathing and stimulation . No one took her for a shower . There was no Television, No Radio, No Phone, no where pleasant to sit , and the bathroom was something out of a horror movie in fact the whole ward was , the room was dingy with no view at all , we as a family are very dissapointed my mother's welfare was not thought of , she became very dissoriantated , not knowing what time of day it was , the food she would not eat as this was dreadful and sloppy . I think they need to close this ward down , very very bad.

Thank you

We're sorry to hear about your NHS experience and that you are unhappy with the care your mother received at the hospital. What you describe certainly falls short of what we expect for all our patients.

We'd like to understand a little more about what happened so we can look into this for you. If you'd be interested in doing this, you can contact our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) team on 0800 953 0667 or pals@ghnt.nhs.uk
