"Contacting the QEII Hospital,"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

Last evening my hearing aid came apart into two pieces. Not a calamity but certainly an inconvenience. At 9-00 am I rang using the phone number in my book and after 7 minutes gave up and decided to call the Lister where the call was answered in 2 or 3 minutes. I then learnt that the old Q E number is discontinued and all calls go through the Lister switchboard.

I'm sure I am not the only patient who has suffered this time wasting inconvenience. Is it beyond the whit of man to put an intercept message giving the right number to ring.

May I say the the person I spoke to in the audiology department was cheerful, helpful and sorted an appointment for me straight away.

Actually there was a recorded message when the hospital first opened back in the early summer, but that has now been removed as the vast majority of patients are aware of the new hospital.

If in future you need local contact numbers, you can check out the New QEII's own dedicated website - http://www.newqeii.info/.

Despite the problems you encountered, it was good to see that our colleagues at the Lister were able to help you get things sorted quickly.
