A move of house and of GP brought fresh eyes on the symptoms which I had repeatedly brought to the doctor's office and I was referred to Keith at the ME/CFS specialist clinic at Ladybank. The appointment allowed me space and time to present in context symptoms/periods of illness from Glandular fever as a teenager to shingles as an adult. I felt listened to and understood, and didn't feel I had to 'prove' my illness as I had before.
My appointments ran for less than a year, maybe 8 in total, gaining info on vitamins and supplements, effective use of pacing, positive thinking and living, support and practical advice with employment issues, and understanding of Inflammatory response/muscle weakness and fatigue - all of which have allowed me to get on with life. The benefit of these appointments will last a lifetime.
A shorter waiting time for initial appointment would be marvellous, especially since those referred have often been unwell for several years. I hope this valuable and specialist service remains and can grow.
