"All of the staff that I came into ..."

About: Sunderland Eye Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

All of the staff that I came into contact with were fantastic.

(However, I saw no doctors or consultants during this visit)

I was warned of any potential pain before certain procedures were conducted.

As I prefer being involved with my health, this is just one of many areas where NHS staff, whether it's GP's at their practices, or doctors & consultants at hospitals - could take note and involve their patients too.

What could be improved

Perhaps better sign(s) to indicate the box where an outpatient is to place their form(s) in when first entering the waiting room.

Certainly a better selection of recent reading material in the waiting rooms would be beneficial (until the first eye drops are administered of course!)

Anything else?

I last saw a consultant at this infirmary in 1998 and I'm due to see the same person in January 2010 (I remember his name). I'm expecting that the whole experience will be as good as it has always been.
