"Respiratory on CDU avoid if possible."

Once again another experience that I shouldn't have had to endure.

After being seen in A&E I was moved to CDU overnight.

The night staff were polite and helpful.

The problem occurred with the day staff, rude not listening, and a consultant who discussed everything but my condition.

As I have been on long term steroids, my legs have become very weak, and mobility has become a serious problem, causing breathlessness causing respiratory distress.

I know from experience that a nebuliser will control the breathing and open up the lungs and help expel phlegm.

Each time I asked for a neb I was refused, four times in total.

I was told to use the inhaler which is ineffective unless at least six squirts are used.

Transport was ordered around 9am on 27/11/15 only to be cancelled without informing me until mid afternoon.

I was told by a ward sister that I had to make my own way home, I had to remind them that I was unable to walk very well and unable to manage steps.

When I said that I wanted to make an official complaint, the ward sister placed their fingers in their ears.

When I then threw a plastic cup across the ward, I was then threatened with security.

I asked to see PALS and the CEO, both requests refused.

Eventually transport was rebooked and I arrived home just after 5pm.

Elderly people are not treated with much respect.

On leaving CDU I threw the antibiotics and paperwork back at them.

I'm now back on the rescue pack, but, without the steroids.

My GP has been informed of events of 27/11/15 and is aware of experiences of past admissions related to respiratory disease, and is now referring me to another hospital
